The Priya necklace-and-earrings set from early February, 2015 is finally complete with the addition of this down-to-earth choor ordered by an esteemed client, Mrs.Sharmila Choudhury, for her to-be daughter-in-law. Lucky girl ! She starts off her new life in her husband's home wrapped in a pure guinea-gold parure of illustrious provenance which includes this glorious bespoke hand ornament.
You'll find the familiar cork-flower rows and alternating tied pearls and katai sat-karaiphul arrayed down the middle. These elements are derived directly from the necklace and laid out in a manner so subtle as to make the choor at once a matching accessory and a unique jewel for the hand that can be worn independent of the set and, in fact, paired with other gold sets as well provided the vermilion-stained polish agrees with them. On each side of this central strip is a bunting of polished pennants which lightens the tight overall patterning of the jewel with its generous voids. It also makes more general the design so that usage is universal but without in any way compromising the choor's preeminent position as an integral part of the bride's primary D-Day jewellery.
The borders, after the triangles, that also conceal the framework of the ornament, are made to resemble wide bangles. Each has two twisted wires sandwiching a regular round wire, all of which are hand beaten to a flat plane and soldered to the L-bezel that you'll be able to see in the picture on the underside of the choor.
Suffice it to say that the manufacture is faultless and the craftsmanship sublime. The jewel's been wrought with extreme patience ---- slowly and with care ---- so that the lines are perfect as are the solders clean and the katai and wire elements neat and uniform. Thus, with time, and with absolute devotion to the art of making, the loved one is complete.
