Derived from one of our distinctive naksha kanbalas, this lovely handcrafted maang-tikka or tickly in Bengali, shaped like the crescent markings on a peacock's feather, has rows of mayurs and gem-studded flowers chased across it. An edging of strung seed pearls and another of pearl and ball jhur complete the detailing on the piece and make for a nice contrast to the antique-finished 22K gold.
Usually part of a bridal ensemble, you could wear this glorious hair-ornament alone ---- unaccompanied by any other jewellery ----- and make a stunning style statement. Or you could detach the chain and wear it as a pendant, jura-pin ( brooch for hair-bun), or even a jhapta. Simply put, a spectacular versatile ornament that, in your hands, will become what you command it.
